Practice Teacher Training FAQ

I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO PRACTICE YOGA STUDIO, DO I NEED TO TAKE CLASSES BEFORE APPLYING?
It is always a good idea to come to the studio and take a few classes to make sure we are a good fit for what you are looking for. If you are applying from out of town, you will have a phone call with Tommy, in addition to your application, before being accepted.

WHAT IF I NEED TO MISS A DAY OF TRAINING?
Attendance is required for all scheduled dates and times in order to receive a certification. However, it is possible for an exception to be made with prior written approval and for last minute emergencies. Any missed hours must be made up with approved teachers and at your own expense in order to receive certification. All requests are handled on an individual basis.

ARE THERE ADDITIONAL TIME COMMITMENTS TO THE MEETING TIMES LISTED ON THE CALENDAR?
Yes, you will have written homework, required readings, and mentor and buddy meetings. This is all to help support the learning process and help solidify the material covered during the group sessions.

WHAT IS A MENTOR AND A BUDDY?
Your mentor is a Practice Yoga Studio teacher who is committed to personally helping you along the way should you need extra support. Your buddy is another teacher training student that we partner you up with for the purpose of meetings together to practice teaching, work on homework, talk about yoga, and fulfill other teaching assignments. All of this is meant to ensure you are fully supported on your teacher training journey.

IS THERE A PAYMENT PLAN?
Yes. In order to reserve your spot, you need to make a deposit payment amount of $750. The remaining balance ($2,650) is due in full one week before training begins. If you opt for a payment plan option, the remaining balance will be split in two equal payments at scheduled intervals leading up to training. We are always open to discussing individual payment plan options based on individual needs. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to discuss options.

CAN I PAY FOR MY TUITION IN FULL?
Yes, you can always pay your tuition in full and take advantage of getting $400 off your tuition when you pay it in full.

CAN I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION WITHOUT A PAYMENT?
No. Some form of payment, deposit or full tuition, must accompany your application. Your application is your commitment to the training. We will not review an application that is incomplete. A complete application includes a (1) completed application, (2) payment and (3) signed Tuition and Student Agreement.  If we deny your application, you will receive 100% of your money back.

WILL I BE ABLE TO TEACH A YOGA CLASS WHEN I GRADUATE?
Yes. All graduates are taught the necessary skills needed to teach a yoga class upon graduation. The level of teaching proficiency directly relates to how much time and energy each student dedicates to the training. You will have lots of opportunities to practice teach during the training, preparing you well for teaching in the real world.
